When the child understands the game, add the metronome to increase the challenge. Now the child must clap, tap shoulders, and pause with the beat. Set the metronome first at 30, and then increase the tempo to 45, to 60, and finally to 90 beats per minute.

Clap, tap shoulders, and pause!

Try more intricate patterns: clap, tap, snap, slap knees, stamp foot, pause.

Cross the midline where possible. For example, slap right hand on left knee and left hand on right knee. Tap left shoulder with right hand, and right shoulder with left hand. Pull opposite ear lobes.
